Tyler Mert Ergisi was the kind of soul you never forget. Full of life, radiating joy, wit, curiosity, and compassion — he had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen and valued.
He loved technology, music, good food, late-night conversations, and connecting with everyone around him, young and old alike.
At just 16, Tyler was diagnosed with osteosarcoma — a rare and aggressive bone cancer. In an instant, everything changed. But Tyler met this challenge the same way he met life: with unwavering courage, hope, and a strength far beyond his years.
For three years, Tyler fought bravely through surgeries, chemotherapy, clinical trials, and long hospital stays. Even when he lost his ability to walk, he never lost his light. His battle wasn't just against cancer — it was for his future and for every child facing the same reality.
We lost Tyler at 19. But Tyler's legacy was only just beginning.
Through Tyler's journey, we witnessed the heartbreaking truths about pediatric cancer: underfunded research, outdated treatments, and far too few options for children and teens.
In his memory, we founded the TyMe Institute — a movement dedicated to changing the future of cancer through prevention, early detection, and research that prioritizes lives before cancer takes hold.
